We spent over two years looking for the right company to install a fence on our top floor. I am very particular about style, details, and making sure everything meets the standards required by our inspectors, so finding the right company was not easy.
But for me, it is not only about the quality of the work. It is also very important that I can connect with the people I hire. I grew up with a cultural background where having a good connection with people is a priority, right alongside having high standards. If something doesn’t feel right, I find it very difficult to commit.
We initially had a conversation with another company. Unfortunately, the experience was not good from the beginning. He arrived very late, rushed me, was inconsiderate, and, most importantly, did not really listen to what I wanted. We waited eight weeks, and I started feeling that the whole project was going to become a disaster and potentially cost us a lot of money. Eventually, we found out that he never proceeded because his company went bankrupt. Looking back, his attitude suddenly made a lot more sense! 😂
Then we met Gert Jan of CT Hekwerk.
From the very first inspection, he took the time to properly look at the situation, understand what we needed, and, most importantly, listen to every single detail of what I specifically wanted for the fence. We even agreed on one very important principle: “A happy wife, a happy life.” 😂 So naturally, he knew he had to listen to me and not just my man!
After that conversation, I immediately felt comfortable. I had the feeling that he understood exactly what I wanted, and for the first time in this whole process, I wasn’t worried that things would go wrong.
Fast forward to the day we returned from vacation, and the fence was installed by Gert Jan and his colleague Patrick.
What an amazing duo.
The speed and teamwork between them were honestly impressive. Everything went so smoothly, and throughout the entire installation, I never had that feeling of, “Wait… are they doing this correctly?” Everything was done carefully and professionally.
But what I appreciated most was the energy between them. Gert Jan has a strong, funny, and very straightforward personality, while Patrick has a much calmer and more relaxed vibe. Somehow, the two personalities complement each other perfectly. 😂 It made the entire home renovation experience feel comfortable and enjoyable rather than stressful.
And let me tell you something: I am a difficult woman when it comes to details. 😂 I know exactly what I want, and I can worry a lot when I don’t feel confident about a project. The fact that these two managed to make me relax and not worry about anything says a LOT. This time my man’s opinion is excluded.
They listened to me as a client, respected what I wanted, and delivered exactly what we discussed.
So, if you’re looking for someone to install your fence, I would genuinely recommend this duo. Gert Jan and Patrick, thank you for making what could have been a stressful home renovation into such a smooth and enjoyable experience.
And yes… I am a very happy wife, so you already know the fence is a success. 😂❤️
